We kick things off October 5th in Birmingham, AL and October 6th in Augusta, GA, with our good friends Fruition!

The first time they ever made music together, Fruition’s three lead singer-songwriters discovered that their voices naturally blended into beautiful three-part harmonies. In the eight years since that impromptu busking session, the Portland, Oregon-based quintet has grown from a rootsy, string-centric outfit to a full-fledged rock band with an easy but powerful grasp of soul, blues, and British Invasion era pop. More information on Fruition: http://www.fruitionband.com

Billy Strings joins us beginning on October 8th in Charlotte, NC, as we make our way through the Southeast and East Coast.

“Billy Strings is a 20 yr old, tattoo covered guitar picker/singer that you surely will be hearing about for years to come. “Blessed with the voice of an old soul from the mountains, a gentlemanly air, and the ability to sling hundreds of notes with razor-crisp precision at the speed of a machine gun, Strings’ flat-picking talent seems almost beyond comprehension to veterans of the local bluegrass scene, especially given his youth.” – Northern Express Publications. More information on Billy Strings: http://www.billystrings.com

Pert Near Sandstone hops aboard the train, kicking things off with a double header at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY October 19th & 20th,  We’ll make our way through the Midwest, with tour closing shows at the House of Blues in Chicago on October 29th, and The Waiting Room in Omaha, NE on October 30th.

Pert Near Sandstone emerged from the same roots-based musical hotbed in Minneapolis that gave birth to Bob Dylan, The Jayhawks and Spider John Koerner. Originally formed by four friends from the same hometown, Pert Near Sandstone formed unintentionally over weekly, whiskey-fueled picking sessions in an old house in St. Paul, MN. They decided without any real intentions to start playing shows and the chemistry of their music and friendships, even early on, left people feeling like the party followed them everywhere they went. Word of the bands’ uncanny ability to whip audiences into frenzies spread and they were invited to play some of Minnesota’s most legendary venues including First Avenue, the Cedar Cultural Center and the Historic Orpheum Theater. So many great show and cities, not to mention incredible music, so join us for the ride.

#HustleKindness Friday – “Peach Party On The Rocks” Re-Cap

This #HustleKindness Friday, we look back to our soundcheck last week when we teamed up with the non-profit organization, Peach’s Neet Feet. We hosted the first “Peach Party On The Rocks”, which allowed children who have different disabilities or life illnesses to attend our sound-check at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

We had two special guests, named Jaden and Jayden, who were the recipients of Peach’s Neet Feet customized shoes. Through the proceeds we generated by selling our Red Rocks #HustleKindness shirts (see below), we sponsored two pairs of shoes to be given to these kids. Here is a little about each of the recipients:

Jaden is visually impaired and at 11 years old, he is an aspiring cello player! He’s already played at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony and visited us while we were in the studio a couple weeks ago. Peach’s Neet Feet was able to put together a pair of customized shoes featuring a cello, his favorite greek god, Apollo, and his name in braille on his shoes!

Jayden is 13 years old and is partially deaf. She loves animals and someday would love to become a veterinarian. She participates in horse therapy and ride horses twice a week. Her customized shoes featured her favorite animal!

PNF celebrates children with  through art and attempts to bring together individuals, families and supports through shared experiences. PNF’s core teachings include being selfless and sharing talents while affirming the positive effects of acting with kindness and living a purposeful life. PNF finds sponsors for each child. These sponsors fund hand-painted shoes that are delivered by Peach’s Neet Feet. Each child has something that makes them unique – whether it’s a struggle with a life-illness or diagnosis that makes these children unique – its the simple act of kindness that makes their day and creates a sense of community.

Yonder Mountain String Band at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 20th

Yonder Mountain String Band returns to our home-state venue Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

Accompanying YMSB for this year’s homecoming, we welcome Drive-By Truckers, as well as special guests Preservation Hall Jazz Band.  This powerful and eclectic line-up features the amazing soulful southern rock of Drive-By Truckers, the rich jazz tradition of New Orleans with Preservation Hall, plus the original blend of bluegrass and progressive jam-improvisations of Yonder Mountain.

Untitled design-11

For nearly 18 years, Yonder Mountain String Band has redefined bluegrass music, expanding the traditional acoustic genre beyond its previously established boundaries by steadily pushing the envelope into the realms of rock n’ roll and improvisation. Notoriously independent, Yonder Mountain String Band has paved the path for a genre and sound as unique as the band itself.

Yonder Mountain String Band consisting of Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Dave Johnston (banjo, vocals), Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), Allie Kral (violin, vocals), and Jacob Jolliff (mandolin, vocals) — began a new era for the band with the release of Black Sheep. The first YMSB album produced by the band itself, Black Sheep is, by any measure, considered the most mesmeric of their career. Black Sheep marks the first time in Yonder’s history that they utilized, throughout an entire record, the conventional five-piece instrumental arsenal of bluegrass music (guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle and bass), proving yet again that the band continues to be a progressive

Yonder Mountain String Band will feature original tunes pulled from the recent release Black Sheep, along with an arsenal of originals and re-invented covers of classic hits that span a variety of genres to create a Yonder experience like none before.

Drive By Truckers

Co-founded by Patterson Hood (guitar, vocals) and Mike Cooley (guitar, vocals), the alternative country five-piece Drive-By Truckers also includes Brad Morgan (drums), Jay Gonzalez (keyboards, guitar, vocals, accordion, saw), and Matt Patton (bass, vocals). Their 12th studio album, English Oceans (March 2014; ATO Records) is an elegantly balanced and deeply engaged effort that finds the group refreshed and firing on all cylinders. Drive-By Truckers recently released their long awaited live album, It’s Great To Be Alive: Recorded Live at The Fillmore (October 2015), which was recorded over a three-night run at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco, CA.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band

The New Orleans jazz band Preservation Hall Jazz Band got their name directly from the Preservation Hall venue located in the French Quarter. Preservation Hall was among the few NOLA venues that welcomed both Caucasian and African-American musicians during the early 1960s when the Jazz Band first got its start. The current line-up includes Joe Lastie Jr. (drums, backing vocals), Clint Maedgen (tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, vocals), Rickie Monie (piano), Mark Braud (trumpet, backing vocals), Ronell Johnson (tuba, piano, vocals), Charlie Gabriel (clarinet, tenor saxophone, vocals) and Ben Jaffe (tuba, string bass, banjo, percussion, backing vocals). In 2013, Preservation Hall Jazz Band released their first album, That’s It!, consisting of all original material written over the course of their more than 50-year career.

Yonder Mountain Teams Up with Non-Profit, Peach’s Neet Feet for Red Rocks

Peach Party On The Rocks!

Yonder Mountain String Band has teamed up with the non-profit organization, Peach’s Neet Feet, to host the first “Peach Party On The Rocks”, which will allow children who have different disabilities or life illnesses to attend our sound-check and performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. We are also ambassadors for the movement called “Hustle Kindness” which is the simple reminder to “hustle” kindness everyday. Not to just “be kind” but “do kind” things for others!  We will be selling limited Red Rocks T-shirt (available in mens and womens)  that supports the cause and the philanthropic efforts of Peach’s Neet Feet! Stop by our merchandise booth for your limited edition #HustleKindness shirts. Screen Shot 2016-08-12 at 4.44.15 PM

Peach’s Neet Feet (PNF) ignited the Hustle Kindness movement as an extension of its main mission.

Hustle Kindness Friday begins with wearing the T-shirts that boldly display the motto and then capturing it on social media with the hashtag #HustleKindness. This social media campaign is simple in its mission: to remind people to care about a cause, community, and their fellow humans. This communal experience is rooted in kindness and seeks to remind people to act with kindness. It encourages people to get out there and “hustle” and not just think about being kind and doing good. A simple mission that invites everybody to participate in this push to make the world a better place rooted in empathy and kind acts.

Peach’s Neet Feet – What about those shoes?

PNF celebrates children with  through art and attempts to bring together individuals, families and supports through shared experiences. PNF’s core teachings include being selfless and sharing talents while affirming the positive effects of acting with kindness and living a purposeful life. PNF finds sponsors for each child. These sponsors fund hand-painted shoes that are delivered by Peach’s Neet Feet. Each child has something that makes them unique – whether it’s a struggle with a life-illness or diagnosis that makes these children unique – its the simple act of kindness that makes their day and creates a sense of community.

We are sponsoring two pairs of shoes to be donated to Jayden and Jaden who will both be at Red Rocks on August 20th,

Here are some of the shoes that Peach’s Neet Feet paints for kids across the nation! This brightens their day as each pair is as unique as the children themselves.

Meet the Kids from Peach’s Neet Feet who will be joining us at the “Peach Party” on August 20th

My name is Jayden Parson and I am 13 years old and in the 8th grade. I love animals and someday would love to become a veterinarian. I participate in horse therapy and ride horses twice a week. I enjoy art, being outdoors, camping, and listening to music.

Brody is 13 years old.  He loves playing soccer, baseball and watching the Denver Broncos.  He also loves playing with his five dogs and video games.  He enjoys the outdoors and food.  He is a super, amazing and wonderful kid!

Annabelle has cerebral palsy. She is 7 years old. She loves gymnastics, reading, exploring, and experiencing new things. She keeps her parents busy with her new found independence and loves motoring around a denver in her walker wearing out her new walking shoes.

Jaden is visually impaired. He is 11 years old and plays the chelo and music. He’s actually already played at Red Rocks but looks forward to returning to the venue! He also likes to ski, ride his bike, to read Greek mythology, and rock climb. The sky is the limit for him.
